How to plan a group trip with Claude and a shared calendar

To plan a group trip with Claude, connect it to a shared calendar, ask it to create the trip calendar, send the invite link to your group, then have it add the trip days and each activity. Afterwards you can ask who has not answered.

It takes about ten minutes. Your friends need no account and no app: they open a link and type their name.

Add the free connector, then ask Claude to set up your trip calendar.

How do you plan a group trip with Claude, step by step?

1. Connect Claude to the free connector. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste https://tryjunto.app/mcp. It needs no sign-in. Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise plans (Free allows one), and menu names change, so follow the current screens. In Claude Code, run: claude mcp add --transport http junto https://tryjunto.app/mcp

2. Ask Claude to create the trip calendar. Say what the trip is, how many people and your name: "Create a private calendar called Lisbon Trip for about 10 friends. My name is Sam." Claude returns two links: your admin link, which you open yourself and keep private, and the invite link.

3. Share the invite link with the group. Paste it in your group chat. Each friend opens it and types a name. There is no account and no app, and everyone sees the same calendar. Ask Claude to write the message if you want one.

4. Unlock the calendar and add your personal link. To let Claude read and add events, open the calendar, tap AI, unlock it once ($4.99 plus tax, no subscription) and make your personal connection link. Add that link to Claude as a second connector. You also need the unlock if the group is over 8 people. The unlock is paid by you on Stripe, never by Claude.

5. Add the trip days as a multi-day event. Say: "Add Lisbon Trip from October 9 to October 12, all day." Multi-day events take an end date, so the whole trip shows as one block across those days.

6. Add the activities. Give Claude the plan in plain words: "Friday 19:30 dinner near the hotel, Saturday 10:00 walking tour, Sunday 14:00 beach." Claude should confirm each title, date and time with you before it adds it. Each activity has its own RSVP, so people can say yes to dinner and maybe to the tour.

7. Check who has not answered. Ask: "Who has not replied to the Saturday tour?" Claude reads every answer and lists the members who have not responded. It cannot answer for them, so nudge those people in the group chat.

What do I need before I start?

You need an AI assistant that can add a custom connector by URL (Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code) and a few minutes. You do not need a calendar yet: the free connector can create one.

Reading and adding events afterwards needs your personal connection link, which comes with the unlock. A free calendar holds up to 8 members. The unlock removes that limit for the whole trip group.

Can I plan the dates with Claude too?

Not with this tool. The calendar shows events and who is going, but it has no availability overlay and no date poll. If your group has not agreed on dates yet, settle that first in a poll tool, then create the trip once the dates are fixed.

Once the dates are set, Claude is useful for the rest: turning an itinerary you paste in into dated events, and keeping a running list of who has answered. For the page about trips without Claude, see group trips.

What can Claude not do for the trip?

It cannot book anything, split costs or create a packing list, because the calendar has no payments, lists or chat. It cannot delete events or remove people, so fix mistakes in the calendar yourself. It cannot RSVP for your friends: it answers only as you.

Also, there is no two-way sync with Google or Apple Calendar, so nothing you add in your personal calendar comes back. Each member can add the calendar’s one-way sync link to their own calendar app to see the trip there.

Add the free connector, then ask Claude to set up your trip calendar.

Questions

Can Claude plan a group trip for me?

Claude can organise the plan on a shared calendar: create it, add the trip days and each activity, and tell you who has not answered. It cannot book travel or pay. Junto holds the calendar and RSVPs. Connect the free connector, then paste your itinerary and ask Claude to add it as events.

Does everyone in the group need Claude?

No. Only you need an assistant. Your friends open the invite link in a browser, type their name and answer going, maybe or not going for each activity. Junto asks them for no account and no app. Send the link to the group chat and keep Claude for yourself.

Is a multi-day trip supported?

Yes. A multi-day event has a start date and an end date, so the whole trip shows across those days. Then you add activities as separate events, each with its own RSVP. Junto lets Claude set the end date when it adds the event. Ask for the trip block first.

What does it cost for a group of ten?

A private calendar is free up to 8 members, so ten people need the one-time unlock: $4.99 plus tax, no subscription, per calendar. The same unlock turns on assistant access. Junto gives Claude the Stripe link, and you pay it yourself. Decide the group size before you create the calendar.

Can Claude see who has not answered an activity?

Yes, once your personal connection link is added. It can read every answer for an event and list the members who have not replied. It cannot answer for them. Junto shows the same list on the event page, so nudge the missing people in the group chat yourself.

What if I use ChatGPT instead of Claude?

The same steps work in any assistant that lets you add a custom connector by URL. The menu names differ and change over time, and ChatGPT may ask for sign-in settings that Junto does not use. Read the ChatGPT guide on this site for the details before you start.

Can Claude delete a wrong activity?

No. Claude has no delete tool, so a wrong event stays until you remove it in the calendar. Junto lets creators and admins delete events in the app. Ask Claude to confirm the title, date and time before it adds anything, and check the calendar after it finishes.

Will the trip show in my Google Calendar?

Not automatically. Junto has no two-way sync with Google or Apple Calendar. Each member can add the calendar’s one-way sync link to their own calendar app, so trip events show up there. For a whole trip, keep the shared calendar open as the source of truth and share its link.
